The permyriad symbol.

Permyriad (literally, per 10,000) represents a portion of a whole in parts per 10,000, just as permille represents parts per 1,000 and percent parts per 100.

It is denoted by the symbol ‱ (like the percent sign, but with two additional zeros under the slash).

Thus:

  • 10,000‱ ≡ 10,000 per 10,000 = 1 or 100% (or 1000‰)
  • 1,000‱ ≡ 1,000 per 10,000 = 1/10 or 10% (or 100‰)
  • 100‱ ≡ 100 per 10,000 = 1/100 or 1% (or 10‰)
  • 10‱ ≡ 10 per 10,000 = 1/1,000 or 0.1% (or 1‰)
  • 1‱ ≡ 1 per 10,000 = 1/10,000 or 0.01% (or 0.1‰)

Note that 1 permyriad is 1/100 of 1 percent.

Permyriad is also called a basis point.
