4 is the integer the proceeds 3 and preceeds 5. The prime factorization is 2². A number is divisible by 4 if the last 2 digits are divisible by 4. 4 is a highly composite number, meaning that it has more factors than all the numbers smaller than it. (Which is only one, two, and three.) 4 is the smallest composite number. 4 is the only number with its number of letters in its name.
